Description The peacock or peafowl, which is a bird that is related to the pheasant, naturally lives in Asia, but can also be found in Africa and some parts of Australia today. They normally inhabit dry savannas, deserts, and forests. The males are famous for their huge and colorful tail feathers, which fan out behind them. Their tail can reach a length of almost 2 meters. The purpose of the peacock’s colorful display is for mating and defense. Aside from using it to attract females, the peacock also fan out his tail when threatened to intimidate predators and make himself appear bigger.
