Horse Black
Description Horses are classified under ungulates, which refer to mammals with hooves. They have elongated heads, thick necks, muscular torsos, as well as a long tail and mane. The color and spotting patterns of their coat differ widely and may be color gray, dark brown or red, brown, blond, chestnut, or black. There are over 400 different horse breeds and they can be found in nearly every country throughout the world, except for Antarctica. Horses are herbivorous animals and their diet is normally composed of grass, hay, rolled oats, and barley. Unlike cows, these animals only have a single small stomach, which is why they need to graze throughout the day to obtain sufficient food that their body needs. In order to supplement the nutrition that domestic horses get, they are also given blocks of mineral blocks and salt. Horses can be considered as social creatures and live in groups called herds or teams. These groups of horses may be composed of 3 to 20 individuals that are led by an adult male horse called a stallion. The rest of the group consists of females and the young ones.
Status The only true wild horse is called the Przewalski’s horse, which once roamed from Manchuria to Spain. It is then reintroduced to Mongolia, China, and Kazakhstan. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Przewalski’s horse is classified as Endangered but its population is recovering. Back in 2008, there were almost 2,000 of this type of horse remaining.
